About Domaine Leroy
Lalou Bize-Leroy's Domaine Leroy farms about 22 ha biodynamically (since 1988) and makes mostly red Burgundy, with nine grands crus and eight premiers crus. Grands crus are Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, Clos de la Roche, Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, Richebourg (0.78 ha), Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Corton Renardes, plus white Corton-Charlemagne; premiers crus include Vosne Beaux Monts and Brûlées and Nuits Boudots and Vignerondes. Hard pruning gives 15–16 hl/ha in a good year, and shoot tips are folded rather than trimmed. Stalks are snipped off by hand, keeping berries largely whole; grands crus spend 18 months in new François Frères oak and are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Decanter's Stephen Brook found the grands crus rich and velvety.
