About Luciano Sandrone
Luciano Sandrone's family estate farms about 67 acres from Barolo to Serralunga d'Alba and into Roero. The flagship Aleste, called Cannubi Boschis until the 2013 vintage, comes from a south- to southeast-facing bowl of shallow calcareous clay in Cannubi's Boschis subzone; it is destemmed and macerated in open-top steel tanks, fermenting on native yeasts for about a month, then aged 24 months in 500-litre French casks and 18 months in bottle, showing rose, violet, tar and licorice and lasting 20 years or more. Le Vigne blends parcels from five Barolo communes. Valmaggiore is a Nebbiolo d'Alba from a Roero vineyard, and the range also includes a Dolcetto d'Alba and a Barbera d'Alba.
