About Domaine Jean Grivot

Domaine Jean Grivot in Vosne-Romanée farms 15 ha of mostly old Pinot Noir on organic principles, at 11,000 vines per hectare. Grands crus are Clos de Vougeot, powerful and vigorous young; Échezeaux, voluptuous with violet and spice; and Richebourg, rich and long-lived. Premiers crus include Vosne Les Beaux Monts, Les Suchots, Aux Brûlées, Les Chaumes, Les Rouges and Aux Reignots, plus Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Boudots, Les Pruliers and Roncières. Grapes are fully destemmed, cold-soaked four to six days and fermented on native yeasts with daily pump-overs and very little punching down, aiming for infusion over extraction, then aged 15 months in barrel, about 30% new.
