About Robert Groffier
Domaine Robert Groffier, run from Morey-Saint-Denis by Nicolas Groffier, farms nearly 8 ha in the Côte de Nuits. Its centrepiece is a full hectare of Chambolle-Musigny premier cru Les Amoureuses, the largest holding in that climat, delicate and refined. It also has about 1 ha of Bonnes-Mares, powerful and structured, and a Chambertin-Clos de Bèze parcel of just under 0.5 ha. Grapes are mostly destemmed without crushing, cooled, then fermented on native yeasts with short, frequent punch-downs over 17–20 days; stems are kept up to about 20%, though Clos de Bèze can be fully whole-bunch. New oak runs from none to 100% for grands crus, and bottling is unfined and unfiltered.
