About Kistler
Kistler, owned since 2008 by Bill Price and run by winemaker Jason Kesner, makes every Chardonnay from one heritage selection (Old Wente, according to Vinfolio), grown across fifteen vineyards in Carneros, Sonoma Valley, the Russian River Valley and the Sonoma Coast. Vineyard bottlings include Kistler Vineyard and its Cuvée Cathleen, Hudson, Hyde, Durell, McCrea, Stone Flat, Vine Hill and Trenton Roadhouse. Fruit is whole-cluster pressed, fermented on native yeasts in underground barrel cellars and aged on lees in French barriques, roughly 35–40% new, without stirring, fining or filtration; the wines are opulent yet flinty and fresh. Pinot Noirs draw on two heritage selections, from sites such as Occidental Station.
