About Chateau Latour

Château Latour, François Pinault's Pauillac First Growth, farms 96.5 ha, certified organic since 2018, about three-quarters Cabernet Sauvignon. The grand vin comes only from old vines, averaging 60 years, in the 47 ha Enclos around the château, from plots such as Gravettes and Sarmentier; it is typically over 90% Cabernet, aged in new French oak. Austere and powerful young, it often needs a decade, and great vintages develop for several decades. Les Forts de Latour, from the Enclos edges and outlying Pauillac plots like Petit Batailley and Pinada, carries 25–30% Merlot and 50–60% new oak. Le Pauillac, from young vines, is nearly 45% Merlot and drinks after four or five years.
