About Chateau Lynch-Bages

Lynch-Bages, the Cazes family's Pauillac fifth growth, farms about 100 ha of deep Garonne gravel south-west of the town, mapped since 2006 into some 200 sub-parcels that are fermented separately in an 80-vat winery. The grand vin is Cabernet Sauvignon-led with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in French oak, 75% new, since 2013; the estate calls it generous young, gaining structure and finesse with age. Echo de Lynch-Bages, the second wine, is round and seductive young and spends 12–14 months in French oak, largely one-year-old barrels. Blanc de Lynch-Bages, made since 1990 from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle, is largely barrel-fermented and turns from citrus to floral notes.
