About Poderi Aldo Conterno
Poderi Aldo Conterno farms about 25 ha in Bussia, Monforte d'Alba, and builds its Barolos around three Nebbiolo crus on calcareous clay. Cicala, on the poorest soil, gives the sturdiest wine; sandier Colonnello the most delicate; Romirasco combines structure and finesse. Each is bottled separately after roughly 28–30 months in large Slavonian casks. Granbussia, the Riserva, blends the oldest vines (70% Romirasco, 15% each Cicala and Colonnello), is made only when all three excel and stays at least ten years in the cellar before release. Il Favot (young-vine Nebbiolo) and Bussiador (Chardonnay) see small barriques. Vinous credits Granbussia with perfume, sweet cherry fruit, soft tannins and finesse rather than sheer power.
