About Chateau Gruaud Larose

Château Gruaud Larose, a Saint-Julien second growth owned by the Merlaut family's Taillan group, farms 82 ha on Garonne gravel, certified organic from the 2022 vintage. The grand vin is led by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, and spent 18 months in barrel in 2014; Hachette's guide describes structured, spicy vintages with red and black fruit and firm yet elegant tannins that reward keeping. Sarget de Gruaud Larose, the second wine, has more Merlot (48% in 2020) and spends at least 14 months in mostly used oak. La Roseraie de Gruaud Larose is a third wine.
