About Chateau Beychevelle

Château Beychevelle, a Saint-Julien fourth growth owned by Grands Millésimes de France, has 90 ha of vines on two plateaus of deep Garonne gravel, planted 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot at up to 10,000 vines per hectare. The grand vin is hand-picked, destemmed and vinified plot by plot, with press wine blended back for structure, then aged about 18 months in barrel, 50–60% new. It is deep-coloured, silky yet powerful, has leaned to a more masculine, Cabernet-heavy style in recent years, and ages for 20 years or more. Amiral de Beychevelle, the second wine, shows blackcurrant, violet and silky tannins; Les Brulières de Beychevelle is a Haut-Médoc.
