About Chateau Figeac

Château-Figeac, the Manoncourt family's Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé A, farms about 41 ha of vines within a single 54 ha estate. It sits on three deep Günzian gravel outcrops of quartz and flint over blue clay, and is planted roughly 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot. The two Cabernets make up about 70% of the grand vin, giving a taut, mineral frame with peony, infused fruit and graphite over satiny tannins; it is aged in new oak and develops cedar, tobacco leaf and truffle over decades. Petit-Figeac, the second wine (made since 1945, so named from 2012), comes only from estate grapes and is lighter and earlier-drinking.
