About Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion

La Mission Haut-Brion, the Domaine Clarence Dillon estate, farms 29 ha of quartz gravel in Talence and Pessac: about 25 ha of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and just over 4 ha of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The red grand vin, complex, full-bodied and intense, is blended from about 20 vats, tasted first blind, and aged 18–20 months in barrel, racked about every three months, with new oak adjusted to the vintage. La Chapelle de La Mission, the small-volume second red, comes from younger vines. La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, the former Laville Haut-Brion, is a dry white the estate calls a wine for insiders, expressing the Sémillon of these terroirs.
