About Chateau Canon

Château Canon, owned since 1996 by the Wertheimer family of Chanel, farms 34 ha on Saint-Émilion's clay-limestone plateau, with 13 ha inside walls that shelter the vines from spring frost. Plantings are about 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. The grand vin draws on 24 ha and ages around 18 months in French oak, roughly half new barrels plus a small share in large wooden vats; the limestone keeps the fruit fresh, giving a voluptuous, pure-fruited wine with mineral tension and structured tannins balanced by generosity. Croix Canon, the second wine, comes from a further 10 ha and gets the same care.
