About Screaming Eagle
Screaming Eagle, Stan Kroenke's Oakville estate, has about 45–48 acres under vine on mixed alluvial, volcanic, gravel and clay soils, planted roughly 60/30/10 to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Every vine is tagged and tracked; the 45 acres are vinified as 45 separate batches in 50 small tanks, giving over 120 potential components, and only the top grapes are kept. The flagship Screaming Eagle is Cabernet-dominant, built mainly from western-side Cabernet. The Flight, formerly Second Flight, is not a second wine but a Merlot-led blend from an eastern block with well-drained soils and cooler nights (65% Merlot in 2021), fragrant and bright. A tiny Sauvignon Blanc has been made since 2012.
