About Rivers-Marie
Rivers-Marie, the label of winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and Genevieve Marie Walsh, makes single-variety wines, with Pinot Noirs mainly from the Occidental–Freestone corner of the Sonoma Coast: Summa, planted from a massale selection in 1998, and Summa Old Vines, a 550-vine dry-farmed block from 1978, the two most heavily oaked in 2008; Occidental Ridge, Dijon clones with low pH and firm tannin; Silver Eagle; and Calera-clone Bodega Thieriot. Some sites get 10–15% whole clusters, while the Sonoma Coast blend sees little new oak. The Napa Cabernets, in 70–85% new oak, include Panek and Vidovich Lane in St. Helena, Oakville Terraces, M-Bar Ranch and Herb Lamb.
