About Silver Oak

Silver Oak makes Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and Alexander Valley, aged only in American oak from its own cooperage in Higbee, Missouri, where staves season outdoors for 24 months, then get a medium-light toast. The Napa Valley wine, anchored by the Soda Canyon Ranch estate, is blended with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec (about 77% Cabernet in 2019) and goes into new barrels only; the Alexander Valley bottling uses new and once-used barrels. Both spend about two years in wood and are released about five years after harvest. The house aims for moderate alcohol, crisp acidity and structured tannins, capable of ageing 25 years and beyond.
