About Chateau Rauzan-Segla

Château Rauzan-Ségla, a Margaux second growth owned by Chanel's Wertheimer family, grows mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a little Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, on deep, fine gravel around the château and in parcels near Margaux and Château Brane-Cantenac. The grand vin is Cabernet-led, its share varying by vintage (85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13.5% Merlot in 2023). It spends about 18 months in French oak, 55% new in 2023, and shows redcurrant, cassis, rose and cedar with polished, mineral length. Ségla, the second wine, is fermented in steel with regular pump-overs and aged in about 20% new oak, giving a medium-bodied red with silky tannins.
