About Schrader

Schrader Cellars makes Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, mainly from blocks of Beckstoffer To Kalon in Oakville, with Thomas Rivers Brown as winemaker since 2000. Wines are split by clone: CCS is Clone 4 (the Mendoza clone), darker, denser and more tannic; RBS is entirely Clone 337, brighter and fruit-forward; Heritage Clone comes from one To Kalon block of a historic clone with tiny clusters. Old Sparky, the top cuvée, blends favourite To Kalon blocks differently each year; other fruit comes from sites such as Wappo Hill in Stags Leap District, Georges III and Las Piedras. Fruit is destemmed, cold-soaked, tank-fermented and aged in new French oak, giving opulent, plush wines with silky tannins.
