About Penfolds
Penfolds, Treasury Wine Estates' South Australian house, blends across vineyards and regions toward a house style of mid-palate richness, generous fruit and long ageing. Grange, the flagship, is ripe, intense Shiraz, partly barrel-fermented and aged 18–20 months in American oak. Bin 707 is a Cabernet Sauvignon in the house style, skipped when suitable fruit is lacking. RWT is a Barossa Valley Shiraz matured in French oak hogsheads, while St Henri, drawn mostly from cooler South Australian sites, ages in large old vats that add no oak flavour and gains texture over decades. Others include Bin 389 Cabernet-Shiraz ('baby Grange'), Bin 28 Kalimna, Bin 150 Marananga and single-vineyard Magill Estate Shiraz; Yattarna is a cool-climate Chardonnay.
