About Martinelli
Martinelli farms about 470 acres across Sonoma's Russian River Valley, Green Valley and Fort Ross-Seaview, bottling small-production vineyard-designated Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Syrah. Zinfandel comes from heritage vines the family planted in the 1880s, some now over 140 years old, above all Jackass Hill, the steepest non-terraced vineyard in Sonoma County; some Zinfandels exceed 15% alcohol. Pinot Noir ranges from Fort Ross-Seaview sites such as Blue Slide Ridge and Three Sisters to Green Valley's Bondi Home Ranch, while Chardonnay comes from Charles Ranch, Lolita Ranch and Zio Tony Ranch. Syrahs are gamey, northern Rhône-style wines. Fermentations use native yeasts and wines go unfined and unfiltered.
