About Lokoya

Lokoya, a Jackson Family Wines estate with Christopher Carpenter as winemaker, produces four 100% Cabernet Sauvignons, one from each of Napa's mountain appellations: Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain and Diamond Mountain. Winemaking stays the same across the four so the site shows: native-yeast fermentation, ageing in new French oak (19 months in 2013) and bottling without fining or filtration. High-elevation sites with meagre soils yield small, thick-skinned grapes with intense tannins. Mount Veeder, the largest bottling, is richer than Spring Mountain, with blueberry, dark plum and earthy minerality; Spring Mountain is sleeker and more linear, with cedar, pine and licorice. Diamond Mountain is the smallest, at 340 cases in 2013.
