About Harlan Estate

Harlan Estate is a 240-acre property in Oakville's western hills, Napa Valley, with about 40 acres of dry-farmed hillside vines on spare soils over fractured volcanic and sedimentary bedrock, the land rising from 225 to 1,225 feet. Plantings run about 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. For the Cabernet-led flagship, fruit is triple-sorted, only fully ripe berries go into native-yeast fermentations in open-top oak casks, and barrels are left unracked until bottling. Robert Parker praises the wines for marrying power with elegance and for remarkable ageing potential. The Maiden, the estate's second wine, is sumptuous and closely resembles its sibling.
