About Fonseca

Fonseca, part of the Fladgate Partnership, draws its Vintage Port from three Douro estates of about 69 ha. Quinta do Cruzeiro in the Pinhão Valley gives a dense core of black fruit and tannin, Panascal adds jammy richness and velvety texture, and Santo António, partly organic, brings perfume. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa and Tinta Roriz grow in single-variety rows but are picked together, co-fermented and foot-trodden in lagares. Classic Fonseca vintages are big and long-lived; in suppler years the house makes Guimaraens Vintage or single-quinta Panascal instead. Bin 27 is a plummy reserve ruby aged about four years; aged tawnies complete the range.
