About Domaine Georges Mugneret Gibourg

Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg farms about 20 acres of Pinot Noir from its Vosne-Romanée base. Its three grands crus differ: Ruchottes-Chambertin, on thin, stony soil with outcropping rock, is rich, silky and balanced; Échezeaux, from two plots (Les Rouges du Bas and Quartier de Nuits) on deep gravel and silt, is the most approachable, with raspberry, cherry and spice; and Clos Vougeot, a few rows near the château, joins power to finesse and ages longest. Premiers crus are Chambolle-Musigny Feusselottes and Nuits-Saint-Georges Chaignots and Vignes Rondes. Fruit is destemmed, fermented with native yeasts and aged 18 months in French oak, from 10–20% new for villages up to 70% for grands crus.
