About Chateau Montelena

Chateau Montelena sits at the foot of Mount St Helena north of Calistoga, with about 110 acres of estate vines, mostly Cabernet Sauvignon plus Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Petite Sirah. The flagship Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is classically structured and ages for decades (the 2014 spent 22 months in French oak), though warm years such as 2022 come out more opulent and supple. The Napa Valley Chardonnay, heir to the 1973 bottling that won the 1976 Judgment of Paris, skips malolactic fermentation (the 2022 spent 10 months in French oak) and stays bright and mineral. A Napa Valley Cabernet, Estate Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc and Potter Valley Riesling round out the range.
