About Casanova di Neri

Casanova di Neri, run by Giacomo Neri and his sons, makes Sangiovese Grosso wines from seven vineyards spread across Montalcino, mostly on marl at about 250–490 m. There are three Brunellos: the white-label Brunello from the estate's cooler sites; Tenuta Nuova, from a stony, south-facing vineyard, marked by rosemary and eucalyptus notes and a long finish; and Cerretalto, from a steep single plot on graphite-rich soil, broad and plush-tannined yet fresh (aged 36 months in barriques). Fruit is destemmed, hand- and optically sorted, fermented in open steel and wood vats and aged in casks of several sizes, aiming for ripe, sweet tannins and a concentrated style.
