About Dana Estates

DANA Estates, owned by Hi Sang Lee, bottles single-vineyard 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from organically farmed Napa sites, with Philippe Melka consulting. Helms, 8 acres of gravelly Rutherford bench beside the winery, ferments in upright Taransaud oak tanks and is the most classical: perfumed, plummy, with dusty cocoa tannins. Lotus, 5 rocky acres on slopes up to 45 degrees in Crystal Springs, ferments in concrete and is the most powerful, with spice and graphite. Hershey, 35 acres at 1,800 feet on Howell Mountain, is fermented barrel by barrel for a linear, savoury, mineral style. Montagna on Pritchard Hill is the newest. A tiny Sauvignon Blanc ferments in cigar-shaped barrels.
