About Beringer
Beringer, the St. Helena winery owned by Treasury Wine Estates, is best known at the top for Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, a near-varietal Cabernet assembled from vineyards vinified separately: in 2017 it drew on ten sites led by Steinhauer and Bancroft Ranch on Howell Mountain, plus the St. Helena Home and Chabot vineyards, and spent 20 months in custom-toasted French oak, 80% new. Expect blackcurrant, cocoa, graphite and espresso, full structure and ripe tannins, and one critic sees it keeping two decades or more. Below it sit a Private Reserve Chardonnay, Knights Valley reds from Sonoma, and single-vineyard bottlings from sites such as Marston Ranch on Spring Mountain, Chabot and Steinhauer Ranch.
